Student Researchers
The research process develops skills of "purposeful deliberation and critical reflection, [which] are essential skills and processes for democratic citizenship and problem solving" (Alberta Social Studies Program, 2005).

Teachers will work with students to guide their research and develop information collection and analysis skills in line with Grade 9 Social Studies outcomes:
- Refining search terms and methods of data collection
- Evaluating the quality and trustworthiness of sources
- Synthesizing information from a variety of sources into a complete idea or ideas
- Adapt their research focus as the investigation progresses
